Deep Roots Festival

Our exciting festival is taking place over three weekends: 11-13 June, 10-11 July and 25-26 September – for details of our second weekend from Saturday 10th July to Sunday 11th July please look at our dedicated Deep Roots Festival page.

Capturing South Molton in Your Words and Images

As part of the Deep Roots Festival 2021, poet Rosie Jackson and film-maker Gordon McKerrow have been asked by Arts Destination South Molton (ADSM) to make a poetry film about living in South Molton and the surrounding area.

ADSM is very grateful to Home Instead North Devon and Exmoor for sponsoring this legacy project for our town.

The film will be of images you have taken or made – photos, video clips, paintings, sketches – and your voices reading lines you have written. These will be edited together, making a vibrant celebration of our community: to capture this time as we come out of lockdown. For further details look at mySouthMolton.

Don’t forget to come to the première of the film on Saturday afternoon 25th September in the South Molton Assembly Rooms.

Ode to the Ash Tree Poetry Project

For the later part of the festival, Katy Lee of Courage Copse Creatives is creating an interactive poetry project. She invites all members of the community to get involved. Everyone is asked to write poems about Ash Trees. Your poems can be anything to do with Ash Trees, including the impact Ash Die-back will have on our countryside. For further details look at Ash Tree Poetry Project.
