Arts Destination South Molton

arts@our heart: sharing art and culture with our local community

Welcome to Arts Destination South Molton. We are a small charity engaging with a wide audience through The Arts. Working with local, national and international artists, makers, performers, musicians, writers and poets, we organise events, exhibitions, workshops, performances and projects, plus hold an annual festival.

As a fairly new organisation, registered as a charity in March 2020, Arts Destination South Molton is extremely proud to have already reached an international audience through our very varied Zoom events and performances during the pandemic, as well as growing our local audience for live events, outside of lockdowns.

Our first Deep Roots Festival, held in 2021, was a mixture of Zoom, live events and projects, which included artist talks and workshops, classical music concerts, group poetry readings, talks on environmental issues, a talk by writer Ann Cleeves (famous for Vera, Shetland and The Long Call) and community projects, mySouthMolton a Film by Gordon McKerrow (sponsored by Home Instead: North Devon & Exmoor) and the Ode to the Ash Tree Poetry Project by Katie Lee (sponsored by Arts Council England).

We are committed to bringing interesting quality art to the area, as well as being mindful of engaging with our local community, with the aim of reaching a diverse social mix of people with a wide age range. To this end, we hold occasional open public meetings, engage with local schools and meet with various community groups and business organisations in the town to discuss future potential art projects and events.

At the moment, we are working on an Arts & Wellbeing Community Project with OneSouthMolton, The Medical Centre and the YMCA, and are also planning an event with South Molton Town Council and other community groups in June for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. More details of these projects will be announced soon!

If you have any ideas, or would like to discuss art projects, workshops, or a variety of other events with us, please get in touch, we would be delighted to hear from you: admin@artsdestination.co.uk
