I’ve drawn since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I mainly drew horses, but until I went on a course held by a local artist, I never really clicked with any particular medium. She taught me how to use pastels and I loved it. I got a stall in the pannier market at 17 doing pet portraits and I have worked ever since. I now mainly work on my own stuff offering originals and prints of horses and local wildlife.
Q: What is it that you do? Describe yourself and what makes you unique.
I offer prints and originals of my own art work. Mainly horses and local wildlife, with the odd unicorn and zebra thrown in!! People say I capture the soul of the animals I paint and the texture of their coats. I have an understanding of ponies because we rescue them and I spend so much time in their company and I think that helps me draw them.
Q: Tell us about the work that makes you the proudest?
Any work I do that features horses makes me proud – whether it’s wild ponies on Exmoor or a portrait of a racehorse.
Q: Who or what inspires you? What keeps you going?
I’m inspired by our own rescue ponies and the beautiful wildlife on our farm and in north Devon.
